LOS LUNAS, NM – Investigators are looking into the circumstance leading up to a crash on I-25 that left a Belen man dead on Sunday.

Officers found 72-year-old Fidencio Romero lying on the southbound shoulder of the freeway with fatal injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

Romero’s vehicle was located about a mile away from where his body was found.

The events surrounding the crash are unclear at this time. However, the vehicle had its hazard lights on and a flashlight was found at the crash scene.
