Narrative
CURRY COUNTY, NM – According to KRQE News, an on-duty NMDOT worker was struck and killed by a driver on State Road 209 in Curry County on Thursday.
The crash was reported on State Road 209 just north of Clovis, where 58-year-old NMDOT employee, Gerald R. Woodard, was providing traffic control near a crash investigation site. Authorities say Woodard was in the bed of a NMDOT pickup truck when a driver of a Dodge Ram ignored displayed signage and crashed into the truck Woodard was in.
Woodard was killed in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
