NARRATIVE:
ALAMOGORDO, NM – A fatality has been reported in connection to a collision involving a train and a pedestrian in Alamogordo.
The incident occurred Saturday, June 28th, around 8:30 a.m. on the tracks that run along Eddy Drive near Mesa Verde Ranch Road on the north side of the city.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the victim was walking on and along the tracks when a Union Pacific Railroad struck them.
Authorities declared the pedestrian deceased at the scene. Their name has not yet been released to the public.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the crash.
Officials closed railroad crossings in the area of the crash for just over four hours Saturday while crews gathered evidence and cleared the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
